The Little Polar Fox and the Northern Lights

2 min read aloud
A white polar fox sitting in the snow under green and pink northern lights

Far away in the north, where the snow is clean and white as milk, lived a little Polar Fox.
The Fox had fur so fluffy that he looked like a small snowball with a black nose.

It was a long, winter night. The Fox was lying in his cozy burrow lined with soft moss.
He was warm and safe, but he didn’t want to sleep just yet.
He stuck his little nose out of the burrow and looked up at the dark, deep blue sky.

“I am waiting for the sky dance,” whispered the Fox.

And then, it happened.
On the dark sky, the first streak of light appeared. It was gently green, like a young leaf in spring.

The light began to move. Not fast or sudden, but slowly and smoothly.
As if someone was painting the sky with a big, soft brush.

A pink color joined the green one. Delicate like cotton candy.
And then, a deep purple.

It was the Northern Lights.
Colorful ribbons of light waved above the Fox’s head.
They stretched and curled.
Up… and down.
To the left… and to the right.

The Aurora danced in total silence.
No sound could be heard. Only colors flowing across the sky.
It was the quietest lullaby in the world.

The Fox watched the waving lights.
His little eyes were getting smaller and smaller.
The green color calmed his thoughts.
The pink color wrapped him like a warm blanket.
The purple color invited him to the land of dreams.

“How beautiful…” yawned the Fox.

The lights in the sky became more and more blurry.
The Fox tucked his nose into his fluffy tail. It felt so soft and good.
He fell asleep under the most beautiful, colorful sky.

You are safe under your sky too.
Colorful dreams are already waiting for you.

Goodnight, little Fox.
Goodnight.

If you could paint your own Northern Lights on the sky, which two colors would you use to paint them?
